I’m still working on it every day but have made progress by having the courage to speak up for what I need regardless of the consequences including my biggest one - being alone. I’ve tried to exercise this in every aspect of my life including friends, relationships, and to some capacity work. Oftentimes I haven’t spoken up in the past for fear of being dismissed, or of being hurt or left. I decided to make the effort to stop doing this because in the end it’s always the same result and I get hurt anyways. I learned at a young age and throughout my adulthood that my feelings don’t matter so I’m trying to do better and respect myself and my needs to break that cycle of thinking. I learned this in our sessions and it’s something I will take with me throughout my life.
